Fantastic Four released its trailer today and it’s pretty mum on the details. From official descriptions we know that its about four young scientist who teleport to another dimension and develop superhuman abilities.
We follow Reed Richards, Sue Storm, Ben Grimm and Johnny Storm, played by Miles Teller, Kate Mara, Michael B. Jordan, and Jamie Bell, a cast of young faces who are also very capable actors. These new faces exist in a very dark, gloomy, atmospheric world. Storm stares at a glowing map of the world in a dark room, our heroes wear spacesuits with helmets that seem like a cross between Interstellar and OG Star Trek suits, military men watch a projection of blueprints in a war room.
Not many details about the plot point are offered. What we can figure out above all is that science dominates this new movie, science, innovation, and its gloomy, probably military funded consequences. This does not seem to be as superhero oriented as previous Marvel movies, but perhaps this is beneficial. With Marvel’s back to back milking of its franchise, perhaps they’re trying to balance their movies so we’re not sick of capes and tight spandex.
